About the position
As a Junior Carpenter at Salmo Craft Co., you will work closely with our Head of Production and senior team members to build premium custom saunas in our Ottawa workshop and on-site at customer locations. You’ll be involved in all aspects of the construction and installation process.
This is a hands-on position with an opportunity to learn and develop a broad range of carpentry and construction skills. The ideal candidate is someone who is eager to learn, takes direction well, works carefully, and wants to build a career in the skilled trades.
Key Qualifications:
- Some experience in carpentry, construction, woodworking, or a related hands-on trade is an asset.
- Comfortable using basic hand and power tools.
- Strong interest in carpentry, woodworking and craftsmanship.
- Good attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Able to follow instructions, learn new techniques and work as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and willing to take on new challenges.
- Physically capable of performing the demands of a construction and workshop environment.
- Safety-conscious and committed to maintaining a clean and organized workplace.
- Willingness to learn about sauna construction, materials and building techniques.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is an asset.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the construction of custom saunas from start to finish.
- Measure, cut, assemble and install wood and other building materials.
- Assist with framing, insulation, cladding, flooring, benches, doors, windows and interior finishing.
- Apply and advance proper carpentry and construction techniques.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Assist with loading, unloading and organizing materials.
- Help maintain a clean, organized and safe workshop.
- Assist with deliveries and on-site sauna installations as required.
- Work closely with the Head of Production and other members of the team to meet quality and production targets.
- Take care of tools, equipment and materials.
- Develop an understanding of sauna-specific construction, design and installation techniques.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative and hardworking team environment.
